Student Case Competition
Every year APICS holds a Student Case Competition. APICS is broken into several districts. Each district holds it’s own competition, and the winners of each district compete in theInternational Student Case Competition during the annual APICS conference. This year HEC Montréal from Canada took the top honor.
The basis of the case competition is a Supply Chain simulation game called The Fresh Connection.

Career fair
At this year’s Case Competition – for the first time – as an added benefit to the participating students we plan to hold a career fair section. We will be inviting recruiters to attend the event so they can watch the students participating. This is something our chapter does not have much experience in, so I would also appreciate any support you could provide to make this successful.

APICS Southwest District
I am on the Student Case Committee of the APICS Southwest District and sit on the board of directors of the APICS San Diego Chapter as the Vice President of Programs. This year theAPICS West Coast Student Case Competition is being held in San Diego so our chapter is hosting the event. I am trying to get more local universities from Southern California to attend and hence I’m reaching out to you. We do not limit attendance to the competition based on geography so we also have international teams participating every year. Our regular participants from Southern California are usually SDSU, USD, CSUSM, CSUSB, CalPoly Pomona and USC.

FREE APICS Student Membership
Even if your students aren’t interested in participating, since the last 2 years, APICS offers free student membership. I would encourage your students who are interested in Operations and Supply Chain Management to sign up. At the San Diego Chapter we offer one free Professional Development Meeting per calendar year to members, so at least they’d get a free dinner out of it! Of course there are other benefits like networking and discounts on certifications.

*The APICS San Diego Chapter offers monetary support to teams that fall under our geographical area. Overall the event should be at almost no cost to the students since all teams get some amount of prize money as well. This event is meant to aid and help students in their career.*
