MixTern is looking for a teammate who will be in charge of interacting with companies and customers while developing marketing and business plans.

Summer Internships with New York Public Radio


All internships are unpaid. Interns receive a travel stipend of $12/day and are eligible to receive college credit (please contact the Academic Internship Program for more information). Graduate School/Law School panel this Thursday, February 25th!


For those of you wondering what the future holds for you post-undergrad, the Undergraduate Communication Society will be holding a Graduate School/Law School panel this Thursday, February 25th! Come learn what grad school is all about, including the different types of programs, the application process, why you should consider it, and what you can get out of it! We will have three awesome panelists who are grad school/law school pros.

Panelists include:

Nalini Biggs – Ph.D student in UCSD’s Communication program, who has also completed 4 other graduate programs!

Lissa MacDonald – An attorney from the San Diego District Attorney’s Office

An Undergraduate who has just gone through the application process and been accepted to numerous law schools.

This event will be interactive and we encourage you to come with questions.

Pizza and drinks provided!

$500 Voucher for UCSD Extension Class

Through a reciprocal arrangement with the University, UCSD Extension offers a limited number of student grants to full-time UCSD students. Each quarter, students can pick up a student grant voucher, good for up to $500 off of one course (students pay anything over that amount).

Undergraduate students pick up their vouchers in the Extension Student Services office during the weeks specified below. Vouchers are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Students must show up in person and show student identification to receive a voucher, no exceptions. Students graduating in the spring are not eligible for summer vouchers.

NOTE: UCSD Extension courses are professional level and certificate classes that are not part of undergraduate degree-seeking curriculum at UCSD. You cannot get UCSD credit for Extension classes – they will appear as zero units on your transcript. However, students pursuing CPA can take Extension classes for the CPA educational requirements.

Study Abroad in Geneva, Switzerland – UC Berkeley Program


In collaboration with the Haas School of Business, Summer Abroad is offering a Business Innovation for Sustainability program in Geneva, Switzerland.

Students will:

  • Develop models for gauging the impact of business decisions on the environment, workers, vendors, and communities
  • Hear firsthand from a variety of executives and NGOs
  • Explore the issues of sustainability, labor, stakeholder responsibility and impact from a business perspective, and assessing those same issues from the NGO and governmental perspective.
  • Earn 6 units of UC Berkeley credit

This program is open to rising juniors and seniors with an interest in the issues at the intersection of business needs and society, and a desire to explore models in which both thrive.

MGT 153 Business Analytics (new spring undergrad class!)
Prerequisites: Upper Division Standing and Math 10C or Math 20C or Math 31BH
Course Description: This course is designed to help a business manager to use data to make good decisions in complex decision-making situations. Students will gain foundation knowledge of several analytical and econometric methods including decision analysis, probability theory, statistical inference, regression analysis, and hypothesis testing. Students will also learn how to use available computing technology to arrive at optimal solutions.
* Counts as a business minor elective.
* This class will be offered in the Spring 2016 quarter (Wednesdays 11am -1:50pm) with Prof. Kihoon Kim

The Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) at the Rady School is an intensive program that will provide you with the skills to succeed in data-rich business environments. The program offers rigorous, hands-on training that will prepare you to use data and analytics to identify business opportunities, generate business insights and create business solutions. As an MSBA student, you will gain both the quantitative skills to create better decision tools and the ability to manage teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders throughout each phase of an analytics project.
