The Dream Big conference will be a two-day conference held on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7, 2015 that will bring together students, staff and faculty, and invited guests from the community to discuss the needs, challenges, and opportunities of students who are undocumented and from mixed-status families. Workshops will cover a variety of topics, including understanding state and federal policies and programs, accessing health care, opportunities for employment, and panel discussions.

Friday Morning Sessions

8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. (coffee and pastries will be provided)

Friday morning sessions are geared toward staff and faculty. Friday morning will feature an introduction to support services at UC San Diego and across the UC system, a student panel, and a break-out session workshop.

Friday Luncheon

12:30 – 1:45 p.m.

The Friday Luncheon is open to all UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty. The Luncheon will feature remarks from Dr. Juan González, Vice Chancellor – Student Affairs, and an opportunity to meet others concerned about the needs of students who are undocumented and from mixed-status families.

Friday Afternoon Sessions

2 – 3:45 p.m.

Friday afternoon sessions are open to all UC San Diego students, staff, and faculty. Participants will be able to choose two breakout session workshops that will provide information of value to students, staff, and faculty.

Saturday Sessions

10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (lunch will be provided)

Saturday sessions are geared toward current UC San Diego students. The day will include a health and wellness panel, casual lunch, and two breakout sessions. During the breakout sessions participants will learn more about how to maximize their time at UC San Diego and prepare for the future.
